NFL Schedule - New England Patriots Vs. Buffalo Bills

Ian Rapoport offers the following on today's game:

Why this game is intriguing: The last time the Patriots visited upstate New York, they left with a humbling defeat -- their first loss to Buffalo since 2003. Tom Brady threw four interceptions and might have been angrier about this result than any regular-season game in memory. Fast forward a year, and the Pats are (gasp) in third place in the AFC East. How mad will Brady be this year if they fall to 1-3? We may find out. Buffalo has survived scares to both running backs, and Fred Jackson could return this week. Plus, the atmosphere should be insane.

What to watch:Mario Williams, the top free agent on the market during the offseason, was lured to Buffalo for games like this. Nothing is more important than affecting Brady, and Williams will have his chance. The Patriots will try to get their offense going after some rare stagnation, as it appears offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is still trying to find his happy place. If they can block the Bills front, it could be a good day. As for the Buffalo offense, the possible return of Jackson would serve as a game-changer. He's one of the opposing players most respected by Pats coach Bill Belichick.

Juggling, saving his ass and making an out.

Christian Bale Is One Of Our More Underrated Actors Today

This guy's body of work is so under-appreciated it boggles my mind.  From American Psycho to Terminator Salvation to The Fighter to the Batman series...he's an awesome presence on the screen.

I've yet to see a movie with him in in that I don't like. He steals every scene of every movie.

In Public Enemies he didn't get top billing, but should have.  His role was deeper and richer than was Depp's.

Must Have Android App

Nice rainy day today and I have nothing better to do so I'll tell ya about some apps I think you should download and see if you like them.

Big Win Baseball

CREATE your own unique dream team, COMPETE against opponents from around the world, WATCH your team battle it out on the diamond, BOOST your player’s pitching, hitting, fielding and other skills and get ready to win the Daily Pennant for the ultimate BIG WIN!

This game is a blast! Created by Hothead Games the learning curve is VERY small. You don't control pitches, at-bats or field play.  You basically build a roster using baseball cards.  At the start, you're given a full team of "Bronze" players (more on "Bronze" in a moment).

When you win a game, you get coins to purchase more cards which can include Skill Boosts, Big Impact, Contract Extensions, Uniforms and Players. You use Skill Boosts to fill on an individual player's card such as an improved slider or curve for your pitcher, better glove skills, better contact for at-bats etc.  Basically a player card comes with empty slots on their card that you can fill with Skill Boosts.  All cards come labeled as "Bronze", "Silver", "Gold" and "Platinum".  Obviously the better the Skill Boost card you play, the more improvement for that particular skill, and likewise a Silver player is better than a Bronze player and has more room for improvement using the Skill Boost cards - and so on.

As opposed to skill boosts which can be applied to a player, also available are "Big Impact" cards which apply to your whole team during each individual game.  These are one time use cards, though. But don't worry, you get tons more as you play.

When you start a game you're allowed to pick three cards to play during the game.  They can be either the "Gold" Big Impact cards which are more rare, but easily gained, or standard Impact cards.  The Gold cards are really cool.  Gold Impact cards like "The Wheelhouse", "Plate Focus", "No Walks" or "Extra Bases" just to name a few.

The Farthest Homerun I've Managed To Hit! Can You Beat It?
When you apply one of these Impact cards like, for example, the standard "The Cannon" your entire team will have super fast throws...making those bang-bang base running plays not so close anymore.  Or you can use the "Making Contact" card which improves all your players ability to make contact during an at-bat.  There are dozens upon dozens of cards you can use so wherever you feel you'd like to get an extra boost during the next game just pick that card and play it.

The best part of the game is this: Every 24 hours, commencing at 5pm EST, a "Daily Pennant" is started.  People from all over the world play.  For the Daily Pennant, twenty games are played and the team with the best record at the end is the winner.  First place winner receives 50 "Big Bucks" used, like I said, to purchase more cards such as better Skill Boosts, Big Impact and players.  Earn enough Big Bucks and you can start upgrading your roster with better players.

I've never been a fan of games like Madden, I don't have the time to learn something that complex (for my small brain that is).  This game is a lot of fun and I can't recommend it enough.

Oh, and you can also create what are called "Friends Pennants".  I've created one called "Gits and Shiggles".  Feel free to join it and see who has the better team!

P.S. For fans of other sports: Hothead has the following other awesome games (Football coming soon!):

Soccer, Hockey and Zombie Ace, obviously.

Dream Theater Performs 'Take Away My Pain'

I was sitting on the edge of his bed
Staring at the headlines on the paper
He said, "look at poor gene kelly
I guess he won't be singing in the rain."
You can take away my heroes
Can you take away my pain

Take away my pain
Leave the cold outside
Please don't let it rain
Don't stumble on my pride
Take away my pain
I'm not frightened any more
Just stay with me tonight
I'm tired of this fight
Soon I'll be knocking at your door

She was standing by the edge of his bed
Staring at the message on their faces
He said, "what else can you do babe?
I guess I won't be coming home again."
They just took away all my promises
Make them take away my pain

Take away my pain
Leave the cold outside
Please don't let it rain
Don't stumble on my pride
Take away my pain
I'm not frightened any more
Just stay with me tonight
I'm tired of this fight
Soon I'll be knocking at your door

His final scene
The actor bows
And all those years
Are gone somehow
The crowd applauds
The curtain fails

I was standing by the edge of the water
I noticed my reflection in the waves
Then I saw you looking back at me
And I knew that for a moment
You were calling out my name
You took away my hero
Will you take away my pain

Take away my pain
Let the cold inside
It's time to let it rain
There's nothing left to hide
Take away my pain
I'm not frightened any more
I'm learning to survive
Without you in my life
Til you come knocking at my door...

Scott Brown vs. Professor Elizabeth Warren

on Thursday, September 27, 2012
Scott Brown
Elizabeth Warren, the Not-So-Native-American, plucked from complete and utter obscurity to fight Senator Scott Brown for "The People's Seat", is a Dodo Bird.  She's completely unable to fly on her own. A species the likes of which can only be produced in Massachusetts, with a particularly large concentration in the Cambridge region.

The most pathetic candidate I've ever seen run for political office in this state, from either party, is probably the most unqualified do-nothing I've ever seen.  Considering people like Farney Brank, John Oliver and Cadillac Deval run (or have run) this state, that's saying a lot.

Her ads are nothing but uninformed MA residents saying she's "gone up against 'big banks'" and "wall street", fighting for "the little guy" and "opposing tax breaks for millionaires".  Standard empty, buzz-words used simply to get the #ObamaPhone folks to fill the oval next to her name without, they pray, looking at her actual body of work.

A body of work that contains, for example:
  1. Warren says she's a champion of the working man and woman.  However her actions, which we all know speak louder than words, show a much different person.  In 1995, Warren was employed as a lawyer for LTV Steel.  She was taken on to help the company help find a way for them to legally avoid $140 million in retirement benefits to employees. She claims she was trying to protect the bankruptcy system, not do a favor for some unscrupulous "big corporation".  Aren't liberals supposed to hate these "big corporations"?  I know that's one of their buzzwords, so why did she feel so differently about this one?
  2. In her role in Travelers v. Bailey, Warren played a key counsel role and secured $212,000 over three years to represent them. Warren was brought on to ensure Traveler's Insurance didn't pay out on a Supreme Court $500 million trust to victims of asbestos poisoning.  Warren was there to ensure that bankrupt companies couldn't be hit with too many lawsuits if they've filed for bankruptcy. That's really looking out for the small guy, eh?  But here's the kicker, years later she stated the following:
Professor Fauxcahontas
"My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible, terrible disaster. It’s heart-wrenching that there are new victims every year. I think they should be compensated. That’s it for me. That’s what this is all about.’’
As of right now, no asbestos victim has received anything from the settlement. Warren has managed to create and exploit loopholes that have kept the case dragging through the courts.

While the case is still floating around, many families have had to sit by and watch their loved ones die from asbestos poisoning.  Way to fight for the little man, Professor.  To hear her speak about the case, it's like there's two personalities (probably a disorder that would help a candidate get elected in this state).

Please, people of Massachusetts, vote with your brains for once.

Barack Obama Is A Liar. Obviously.

    Liar.

Elizabeth Warren Has Left the Building - Scott Brown Open Letter

    on Tuesday, September 11, 2012
Last night, Professor Elizabeth Warren addressed the convention in Charlotte, and true to form she attacked all her usual villains - successful people, Republicans, businesspeople, energy companies.  The party activists in the audience loved her speech and I did, too, but for a different reason.  They got excited by her rock-throwing partisanship.  I liked her speech because it lays out clearly the sharp differences between Harvard Law Professor Warren and me.

Between now and Election Day, I'll be pointing out the sharp differences, but will you help me with the financial resources I will need to deliver my message?

The Progressive Campaign Committee sees Professor Warren as today's liberal rock star and tomorrow's presidential candidate so they have already raised a quick and cool million dollars for her.  They've even established a new "wing" of the party in her name. It used to be called the extreme-left wing.  Now they call it the "Elizabeth Warren wing."  But that's not where most Massachusetts voters reside.

She'll raise millions more from her star-studded friends, the celebrity chic, and Hollywood crowd who hang on her every word.  They want me gone, but will you help me win through your online generosity.  Will you help right now with a contribution of $150, $75, or $25?

Warren had a lot to say last night, but she didn't bother mentioning the things that have made her most famous.  No mention of how she thinks no one got successful without government.  Nothing about being the self-proclaimed "intellectual founder" of the radical Occupy protests.  And despite speaking at length about her upbringing, there was no mention of the supposed Native American ancestry she claims is so much a part of who she is.

We have exactly 61 days to deliver our independent, pro-limited government, pro-small business, pro-growth and jobs message across the Commonwealth.  Will you take matters into your own hands by making your online contribution for $100, $50, $25 or more for our TV and radio spots, targeted letters and direct mail?

I will be grateful because I need your support right now to win.

    Sincerely,
    Scott Brown
    United States Senator
    The People's Seat
